Getting a 住民票 at the ward office

If you have a My Number card (with its 4-digit PIN set), you can skip the counter: the multi-copy machine at most convenience stores prints a 住民票の写し from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., weekends included (closed Dec 29–Jan 3 in many wards). Choose 行政サービス → 証明書交付サービス, place the card, enter the 4-digit PIN, then pick yourself only or the whole household and whether to include 続柄 and other items. It's usually cheaper than the counter (Ota Ward cut its konbini fee to 150 yen from Sept 1, 2026; Kita Ward charges 200 yen). In Ota Ward, konbini copies cannot include the 住民票コード, but you can choose whether to include your My Number. Check your own ward's available options and the receiving organization's requirements before ordering. Three wrong entries lock the 4-digit PIN. If it locks, check the official PIN-reset procedure before trying again.
